Red Bull: Drivers are evenly-matched
Red Bull Racing's head of car engineering Paul Monaghan believes that the level of competitiveness at the front of the grid is exaggerating the difference between Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Webber has come under pressure for failing to match Vettel this season, leaving him 77 points adrift of his championship-leading team-mate. But Monaghan believes that there has not been much between the two drivers this year.

Donnelly reunited with classic Lotus
Martin Donnelly will return to the cockpit of a Lotus 102 for the first time since his horrific Spanish Grand Prix Crash of 1990 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Northern Irishman, who started 12 grands prix for the British constructor, will drive the Andrew Morris-owned car up the famous hillclimb course this weekend. Montoya close to new EGR deal
Juan Pablo Montoya says a new deal with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing is close as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver market continues to settle. The Colombian is in the final year of his contract with the team that lured him from Formula 1 in 2006 and talks towards a new multi-year deal have been underway for many months. On Friday at Sears Point, where NASCAR's top series competes this weekend, he said he expects to continue to race for Chip Ganassi again in 2012.

Heikki Kovalainen is confident he is in the form of his life with Lotus at the moment, and says he will keep working to make himself an even better driver. Nick Heidfeld believes the new rule that stops teams from changing the engine mapping between qualifying and the race is going "too far". Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier will go into the final loop of Acropolis Rally stages just 0.1 seconds apart, as the world champion responded to his young team-mate on SS15. Ogier had backed off last night to put Loeb into the lead and ensure his Citroen team-mate ran first on the road this morning. Joe Gibbs Racing personnel have been fined and placed on probation for fitting their Sprint Cup cars at Michigan with oil pans that had not been previously submitted for approval by NASCAR. BMWs, SEATs get weight break
Drivers of BMW and SEAT machinery have been given weight reductions for the next round of the World Touring Car Championship at Porto. BMWs were given a 30kg weight increase for the previous round at Brno based on the compensation weight system that balances performance based on lap times over the past two rounds. The 320TC which is fielded by the ROAL, Proteam, Zengo-Dension and Weichers-Sport teams, has been given 10kg back, but remains the heaviest car in the field at 1200kg.

Muller wins race two at Brno
Yvan Muller completed another successful weekend for Chevrolet by taking victory in the second World Touring Car Championship race at Brno. Having topped every session ahead of both races this weekend, Muller lost out to team-mate Rob Huff in race one, so was delighted to take the race two chequered flag over four seconds ahead of his nearest rivals. The win is the Muller's second of the season following his victorious second race at Hungaroring.

Winterbottom denies Whincup pole
Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom beat championship leader Jamie Whincup (Triple Eight Holden) to pole position for the first of this weekend's races at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway. The top 10 shoot-out qualifying system is back in use this weekend, and after going quickest in the opening part of qualifying, Winterbottom was the last man out in the pole session - going on to edge out Whincup by just 0.01 seconds. Stone Brothers' Shane van Gisbergen registered his best qualifying result of 2011 so far in third, sharing row two with Dick Johnson Ford driver Steven Johnson.

Seven-time world champion Sebastien Loeb says catching Petter Solberg will be almost impossible after the Norwegian's exceptional day on the opening leg of the Acropolis Rally. Solberg leads the event by 51.6 seconds from his fellow Citroen DS3 WRC driver Loeb. While there are still 12 stages - including one at night - and almost 130 competitive miles left to run, Loeb says a win in Greece is very unlikely.

Audi team principal Dr Wolfgang Ullrich has refuted suggestions that visibility issues with the R18 TDI prototype contributed to the huge accidents which forced the #3 and #1 out of the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours.
